Dot the I (2005)

Dot the I is okay-ish until it drops one of those Sixth Sense-style plot twists which negates everything that has gone before it into audiences' laps. You either accept the plot twist in question - or you don't, in which case the movie is likely to irk one endlessly . . .
Review by : James O'Ehley

"Er, no, seriously . . . I didn't intend any
Freudian symbolism whatsoever . . ."
Me? I found the plot twist forced, far-fetched and unlikely. It depends on one of those master plans by movie villains in which there are so many unlikelihoods, plot holes and minor details that can go wrong (“just how did he know that she would exactly react that way and not any other way?”) that it just stretches credulity further than any excuse dreamt up by our corrupt politicians nowadays.
On the plus side, the young cast of unknowns acquit themselves quite well and the movie might even have worked as a romantic melodrama instead of the plot twist thriller it turns into.
If you really believe that the dog ate your kid's homework, then Dot the I is for you. Otherwise, stay clear. It'll spoil the rest of the evening as you whine and bitch endlessly about the movie's myriad of plot holes over dinner to your companions . . .
