sa movie and dvd magazine border 1 REVIEW :THE WILD sa movie and dvd magazine border 1

The Wild (2006)

sa movie and dvd magazine rating fullsa movie and dvd magazine rating full

It's an unoriginal mix of Finding Nemo and Madagascar, but the small children in the audience we saw it with didn't care: they laughed themselves silly at The Wild's slapstick sequences and fart jokes . . .

Review by : James O'Ehley

"Uhm . . . I don't think all this cross-dressing is appropriate
for a kiddies movie ..."

Kids will love it – but their parents probably won't have such a good time at Disney's second big screen computer-animated movie, The Wild.

For starters, the movie is unremittingly loud and seems to be in a rush to get things over and done with. Unlike the Pixar movies (Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, etc.) one has no emotional involvement in the characters of The Wild. There are no breathers, no moments for the movie to invest in its own characters or story.

The story is flimsy, the jokes and cultural references are obscure at times (what's with that Carmen Miranda reference? you have to be over eighty to catch that one!) and while the animation is of a professional enough quality, The Wild is something parents probably wouldn't want to see with their offspring . . .

See if you can bamboozle your neighbour or spouse into taking the kids.
